Special recognition planned for retiring SCBC executive

Special recognition activities for retiring South Carolina Baptist Convention executive director-treasurer Carlisle Driggers are planned at the 2006 annual meeting at First Baptist Church, Taylors.

“It is my hope that people would leave the convention with a sense of how God worked in one man’s life for his glory,” said Reiny Koschel, pastor of First Baptist Church, Abbeville, and chairman of a special appreciation committee appointed by the Executive Board to plan all recognition activities.

A 30-minute segment honoring Driggers is planned as part of the Tuesday evening worship service, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. It is a time Koschel hopes will honor not only a leader, but also God’s vision during Driggers’ tenure.

“We will be reflecting back upon the impact that God has made through the life of Dr. Driggers. It is my hope that the people at the convention would get some sense of how God has had his hand upon Dr. Driggers’ life from the very beginning of his ministry,” he said.

A reception will follow the worship service, where individuals will have the chance to express appreciation to Driggers and his family.

“It is my hope that Dr. Driggers would get a sense of the appreciation that people have for his commitment to the Lord and this convention, and that it would give South Carolina Baptists an opportunity to honor him,” said Koschel.

Driggers announced his retirement to the Executive Board and convention staff in April. He will continue with the convention through February 2007.
