Children go ‘All Out’ for state missions at Waccamaw Association

Children, youth, and adults from churches within Waccamaw Baptist Association began the 2013 Season of Prayer for State Missions by “Going All Out” at Myrtle Beach State Park on Sept. 7.

Ken Owens, South Carolina Baptist Convention collegiate ministry director, led the activities of the event sponsored by Waccamaw Woman’s Missionary Union. Food, fun, activities, and fellowship were key elements of the missions education experience, which included learning about missionaries serving halfway around the world and in South Carolina.

WaccamawActeens joined adults in mentoring younger children. Girls in Action, Children in Action, and Royal Ambassadors earned the prayerwalking badge. During the prayerwalk, children offered thanks to God for his creation, interceded on behalf of missionaries serving in South Carolina, and created crosses in the sand using shells and natural materials they found on the beach.

In this way, the children put into practice what they had learned earlier in the day: to be missionaries wherever they are, telling others about Jesus and his love for them.

An offering was taken, and the children wrote thank you notes to soldiers in Afghanistan.
