Jack Hester (left) was honored Aug. 3 for preaching the gospel for 65 years. As a 20-year-old, he preached for the first time at his father’s church in Hendersonville, N.C., on Aug. 6, 1950. Tommy Brashier, pastor of Scenic Hills Baptist Church in Travelers Rest, presented Hester with a plaque. Hester, who has preached in 200 different churches, is staff evangelist at City View First Baptist Church in Greenville.
