Two churches in Fountain Inn have merged. Fairview Street Baptist Church was a declining 104-year-old congregation, and Capstone Church is a five-year-old church plant.

Through the ministry of Kermit Morris, transitional pastor at Fairview Street, the two churches agreed to unite. The name will be Capstone, and the church will be located in the newly renovated Fairview Street facility.

Morris, who directs Encounter Ministries, said, “I am so excited to see a 104-year-old church carry on its legacy in a new form — a new church that is reaching people.”

Walt Tanner, senior pastor at Capstone, will continue as pastor of the combined congregations.
