James Eugene Blanton, 75, of Anderson, died Sept. 11, 2014.
Born on Sept. 8, 1939, in Spartanburg, he was a graduate of North Greenville Junior College, Gardner-Webb University and Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He was the pastor of Parkwood Baptist Church in Anderson, a counselor for Anderson Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission, a tennis pro at Cardinal Racquet Club, and he retired as a counselor with South Carolina Mental Health.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Price Blanton, three children, four grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
