Central Baptist Church, York, celebrated its centennial the first weekend of November. In 1914, it was founded to meet the needs of the people who lived in the mill villages. It began as Charlotte Street Baptist Church and became Central Baptist in 1944 when the church moved to land in the Cannon Mill Village donated by Charles Cannon. Central is the mother church of Eastview Baptist in Rock Hill and Bethel Baptist in York. Carey Caldwell is pastor.
