McDowell brings Connie Maxwell relationships to new position

Debbie McDowell, the new director of volunteer services at Connie Maxwell Children’s Home, is no stranger to her latest surroundings.

Her home church, Temple Baptist in Ninety Six, supported the children’s home throughout McDowell’s life. In Greenwood’s schools, McDowell taught and coached many Connie Maxwell children. One of those students is now her coworker.

McDowell was also instrumental during her 22 years with the South Carolina Baptist Convention in sending summer missionaries to the Greenwood campus. She was director of the missions mobilization group for the South Carolina Baptist Convention until 2010 and has served as a missions consultant since.

“While living in Columbia and spending time during Christmas with family in Ninety Six, it became a tradition to enjoy driving through Connie Maxwell and enjoying the lights,” McDowell said. “Now I am getting to be a part of decorating for Christmas, accepting donations, coordinating parties, loving the children and finding a special place for full-time ministry.”
