North Greenville University welcomes 15th record enrollment

Three new four-year degree programs offered this fall

Continuing a 15-year trend of unprecedented growth, North Greenville University welcomed yet again the largest number of students in school history this semester.

A North Greenville freshman checks her class schedule. She is one of 681 new students enrolled at NGU.

A total of 2,075 undergraduate students have enrolled this fall, which is 71 more students than a year ago. This figure does not include approximately 100 graduate students enrolled in the T. Walter Brashier Graduate School.

Of this number, 681 are new students with 90 being honors program scholars, a record number even with the higher entrance requirements. Since 1996, the honors program has grown from 19 to 250 students.

Fifteen international students are calling Tigerville home this semester, along with 30 missionary kids representing 10 different countries. Also, a record 1,448 students are living in campus housing, an increase of 42 over last year.

“We continue to thank the good Lord for his many blessings and marvel at the growth physically and spiritually at his university,” said NGU president Jimmy Epting.

In addition to welcoming a record enrollment, the university greeted the students with three new four-year degree offerings.

“We are excited about three new majors for this year. We are now offering a bachelor of science in health promotion and wellness, a bachelor of arts in studio art, and a bachelor of science in social studies secondary education,” stated Don Dowless, vice president for academics.

“All three have been approved by our primary accrediting agency and the South Carolina Department of Education. These new programs continue to reflect the innovative approaches to education by our committed Christian faculty who continue to meet the needs of today’s student,” Dowless said.

North Greenville welcomed 97 Palmetto Fellows Scholarship recipients who represent the very best academic students from across South Carolina. In addition, more than 120 students anticipate graduation this December. This past academic year, the university graduated a total of 363 students in its two commencement ceremonies, a record number.
