CIRCULATION: 75,000 COPIES. Published every other Thursday and mailed to Southern Baptists in South Carolina and other subscribers. With rare exceptions, every Southern Baptist pastor in South Carolina receives The Baptist Courier.

Commercial: $75 per column inch (for modular ad rates, see below)
Churches and SBC agencies/institutions outside SC, other non-profit organizations: $60 per column inch
SC Baptist churches and institutions: $40 per column inch

Baptist churches outside SC and individuals: $1.30 per word

Banner ad: $100 per month
Box ads: $30 or $60 per month

Process Color Charges: Ads requiring four-color process will be billed at an additional 15 percent.

FREQUENCY DISCOUNTS

Run your ad more than twice and receive the following discounts:

(18 times) 15%
(26 times) 20%

Advertising placed for frequency discounts requires a contract prior to publication. It applies when the same ad is repeated during the contract period. Discounts are posted at the end of the contract period.

MECHANICAL REQUIREMENTS

The Baptist Courier is printed on a tabloid sheet measuring 15 inches high and 11 inches wide. The imprint area is 14 inches high and 10 inches wide.

The Baptist Courier encourages the submission of electronic ads via e-mail. Because of the differences in operating systems, it is important that you follow the guidelines provided so we can ensure the highest possible quality for your ads.

Please read the following information regarding specific guidelines for sending us your electronic ads. If you have any questions about our electronic ad submission guidelines, please feel free to contact Debbie Grooms at 864-232-8736 or 888-667-4693 (toll-free) or e-mail ads@baptistcourier.com.

Programs and Disk Requirements

We will accept ads prepared on Macintosh computers in the following formats:

• Adobe Acrobat PDF files (“press quality” resolution, fonts embedded)
• Adobe Pagemaker (include fonts and linked art)
• Adobe InDesign
• Adobe Photoshop
• Quark XPress (include fonts and linked art)
• Adobe Illustrator (include fonts)
• EPS files (include fonts)

Ads prepared on non-Macintosh computers should be exported as Adobe Acrobat PDF files (press quality resolution with embedded fonts), or as EPS files with fonts included.

Adobe Acrobat PDF files should be created as composite and should be saved with all fonts embedded.

Photoshop EPS files should be saved with binary encoding.

Convert all color art to CMYK before sending.

A hard copy of each ad should be included for visual reference. (Color proof required if ad is in color.)

In addition to receiving your ad via e-mail, we accept ads saved on CD-ROM media.

Resolution Requirements

Photos should be rendered at a minimum resolution of 200 dpi. Line art should be rendered at 600 dpi.

Sending Ads by E-mail

Electronically-prepared ads may be sent via e-mail to ads@baptistcourier.com.

Please note: E-mail ads will be considered camera-ready. Deadlines allow very little time for changes and corrections, so please be sure the ad is in final, proofed form before it is released. Also, please include the run date in the naming of your file.

CLASSIFIED ADVERTISING

One of the most popular pages in The Baptist Courier is the classified advertising section. Our classified section features available ministry positions and items for sale. Classified advertising is sold by the word. The rate for South Carolina Baptist churches and institutions is 85 cents per word. The per word rate for individuals and churches outside South Carolina is $1.30. Classified ads are posted on our Web site at no additional charge.

WEB SITE ADVERTISING

The online version of the Baptist Courier averaged 7,630 unique monthly visitors in 2007 and continues to grow in content and readership. Your ad is displayed on every page visited, and each visitor typically views eight pages.

We offer two different sizes and placements for advertising your message on our Web site:

Banner ads, which run horizontally across the top of the page, measure 475 x 75 pixels. The monthly cost is $100.

Box ads, which are placed in the right-hand column of our site, measure one of two sizes: 125 x 125 pixels or 125 x 250 pixels. The monthly costs are $30 and $60, respectively.

The advertiser supplies artwork in a JPG or GIF format. Clicking on your ad will link the visitor to your company or organization's Web site. Ads are placed on a monthly basis and will run for an entire month. The Baptist Courier does not run animated ad files.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Deadlines

Ad material is due two weeks prior to publication date. Because of the limited space available for advertising, reservations for space are strongly recommended.

Cancellation

Notice of the cancellation of a scheduled ad or a change to the scheduled run date must be received before the ad material deadline. Ads cancelled after the material deadline will be billed at the original price ordered.

Liability

The Baptist Courier is liable for error of our composition only to the extent of credit or correct rerun of the ad or affected portion. Credit is allowed for the first insertion only. Notice of error must be given in time for the correction to be made in a subsequent issue.

Discount Contracts

A signed contract specifying the insertion dates and ad size is required before ad advertiser can qualify for the frequency discount. The rates specified apply only when the number of contracted insertions is reached by the advertiser within the contract period. Discounts are posted at the end of the contract period.

Ad Content Approval

All ads are subject to final approval by the editor. All decisions are final.

Billing & Commissions

All rates are net; advertising agencies must add commission to quoted rates. Credit may be granted on approved accounts only. All advertising must be paid in advance until an account has been established.
