The Courier is seeking proofreaders to work from home for its book publishing division, Courier Publishing (CP). Applicants should be proficient in English grammar, punctuation, spelling and language usage, and adaptable to a variety of writing styles. Primary job functions will include proofreading/editing book manuscripts for grammar, narrative consistency and CP house style; editing documents in Microsoft Word, Apple Pages or Adobe Acrobat PDF software using track changes; researching and fact-checking where necessary; managing deadlines; and communicating with the author on questions regarding content. Proofreaders will be responsible for their own computer, software and internet access. Payment is based on a manuscript’s word count and degree of difficulty as assessed by the editors.
