Larry Wayne Sanders Jr., 50, of Gaffney, a pastor and associational evangelism leader, died Sept. 19, 2012, at his residence.
SandersBorn in El Paso, Texas, he was a graduate of USC-Aiken and Southwestern Seminary. He was pastor of Park Hills Baptist Church and served on the Executive Board of the South Carolina Baptist Convention and with Peachcenter Ministries. He also was evangelism director for Broad River Baptist Association.
He was former pastor of Little Memorial Baptist Church in Gaffney and served two churches in North Carolina.
He previously was a volunteer chaplain with the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department, volunteered with the Good News Club at Limestone Elementary School and served as a chaplain with Marketplace Ministries for several years.
Survivors include his wife, Pamela Kay Quarles Sanders, and three children.
