North Greenville students bring home broadcasting awards

At the recent 2013 National Religious Broadcasters Convention and Exposition held in Nashville, Tenn., several student awards were awarded to North Greenville University mass communication students.

“I commend these aspiring Christian media professionals for their excellent work,” said NRB president and CEO Frank Wright. “In these talented young people, we can catch a glimpse of the future of our industry.”

The Intercollegiate National Religious Broadcasters is comprised of Christian students with an interest or major in broadcasting, journalism or media communications. The awards program includes essay contests and 36-hour production contests held at the NRB Convention.

In the Short Film category, Justin Robinson from Taylors won second place with his film entitled “Create.”

In the Longer Film category, Chelsea Bailey from McAdenville, N.C., Jonathan Derbyshire from Arden, N.C., and Josh Weir from Marietta, S.C., won second-place honors for their film, “Allegiance.”

Anna Moseley from Travelers Rest won third place in the News and Sports Radio category with her segment, “NGU Basketball.”

In addition, Chelsea Bailey was awarded the $2,500 Bob Dobbs Essay Scholarship. It marked the first time a North Greenville student has won the award.
