Simpsonville First Baptist Church celebrates 125 years

Simpsonville First Baptist Church recently celebrated its 125th anniversary.

The church was organized on Nov. 11, 1888, with 24 members, and the first pastor was F.H. Martin. The first building was built in 1889, and services were held once a month.

The chapel, still used today, was completed in 1914. A Sunday school building was added in 1947; other education annexes were completed in 1961 and 1974. A sanctuary was completed in 1984.

The family life center was built in 1997, and a new 1,500-seat worship center was completed in 2008. Four satellite campuses have been established since 2004. Randy Harling is
