Luther Jarvin Shuman Jr., 99, of Kingstree, died Feb. 28, 2014.

Born Feb. 3, 1915, in Vidalia, Ga., he was a graduate of Statesboro High School and Southern Seminary. He served as pastor of numerous churches, his last being Union Cross Roads Baptist Church in Scranton.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Duke Shuman, three stepdaughters, four granddaughters, six great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Meda C. Shuman, and three daughters.
