A new book by Monty Hale, director of pastoral ministries for the South Carolina Baptist Convention, is directed toward ministers of the gospel who may have lost the passion for their calling.

In “By the Stream” (2014, Tate Publishing, $10.99), Hale says that most ministers have experienced a time in the desert. He describes how God uses time in the desert to push His servants toward the life-giving stream of His presence. He said he hopes that by meditating on the principles in the book, “these sojourns will turn you toward the Lord rather than chase you further into the wilderness.”
