Wife tells missionary’s story in ‘Trophy of Grace’

Retired missionary Jean Phillips of Laurens has written “Trophy of Grace,” a book about her late husband, Gene Phillips, who served with her for more than 40 years as a Southern Baptist missionary in Zimbabwe.

After retirement from the mission field, the couple moved to Camden and were active members of First Baptist Church. They returned several times to different countries in southern Africa as mission volunteers. In 2011, they moved to Martha Franks Retirement Community, where Jean Phillips still resides.

“Trophy of Grace” can be ordered for $15 (which includes shipping and handling) by contacting Jean Phillips at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Community, 1 Martha Franks Drive, Laurens, S.C., 29360. Books are also available at Kershaw Baptist Association in Camden.
