Wilson Nelson, senior pastor of First Baptist Church, Greer, since 1992, has been named director of university advancement at North Greenville University.
And Joe Hayes Jr. was promoted from associate director to director for development. Hayes went to NGU in February from the pastorate of First Baptist Church, Brevard, N.C.
Both Nelson and Hayes will be involved in developing relationships with existing and prospective donors, soliciting major gifts, and coordinating fund-raising activities. Nelson will coordinate alumni, parents and students programs and public relations, while Hayes will assist with estate and will planning for alumni and friends and with grant requests for foundations and corporations.
Nelson, a native of Columbia, is a graduate of USC and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He also has been pastor of churches in Columbia, Georgetown and Kenly, N.C., and has served as a trustee of NGU since 2003.
Hayes, a native of Greenville, is a graduate of Gardner-Webb University and Southeastern Baptist Seminary. He also has been assistant pastor and pastor of churches in Florence and Liberty.
