MORE THAN 35 missionaries from across North America and around the world were on the North Greenville College campus Sept. 26-28 to help interpret the Global Missions Conference theme, “Jesus to the World!”
Keynote speakers for the conference were Jerry Rankin, president of the International Mission Board, and his wife Bobbye. They were appointed as missionaries to Indonesia in 1970. In 1987, Rankin assumed administrative responsibility of overseeing all Southern Baptist missionary work in Southern Asia and the Pacific, including coordinating the work of 480 missionaries in 15 nations. Since 1993, Rankin has served as IMB president.
Bobbye Rankin served alongside her husband, ministering among missionaries and national Christians, especially women and families. The Rankins have lived in Indonesia, India and Thailand.
Chapel services during the week featured the missionaries and focused on the Christian mission of carrying the gospel to the ends of the earth. Meals served in the dining hall featured an international atmosphere and cuisine from around the world.
