Fairview Baptist Church, Greer, held its first worship service in its new facility Oct. 16. Carlisle Driggers, executive director-treasurer of the South Carolina Baptist Convention, was guest speaker for the celebration service attended by more than 900 people.
Located at 1300 Locust Hill Road, across the street from its current location, where the congregation had met for 120 years, Fairview’s new 144,000-square-foot facility includes a 1,000-seat worship center, plus an unfinished balcony; a choir loft and rehearsal room for 100 members; an orchestra pit; 55 classrooms on its main level, with additional space on an upper level to be developed; a fellowship hall that can seat 550 people, with an industrial kitchen; and an office suite for the staff.
Led by Reggie McNeal, SCBC leadership development director; Tommy Duncan, chairman of the Vision 2000 ministry team; and church staff members – carrying the pulpit Bible, flags and worship banners – the congregation participated in a processional to its new facility Oct. 9.
