William Willimon, bishop of the North Alabama Conference of the United Methodist Church, and Jeff Rogers, pastor of First Baptist Church, Greenville, are the keynote speakers for the Eleventh Annual John A. Hamrick Lectureship at First Baptist Church, Charleston, Jan. 15-16.
Before assuming his current position, Willimon was dean of the chapel and professor of Christian ministry at Duke University. He has served pastorates in Georgia and South Carolina.
On Jan. 15 at 6:30 p.m., Willimon’s topic will be “Will All Be Saved? A Look at Salvation as Christians Understand It.” On Jan. 16 at 10:45, he will speak on “Will Any Be Saved? Jesus’ Peculiar Way of Saving.”
Rogers, past president of the South Carolina Academy of Religion, has served pastorates in North and South Carolina. He taught biblical studies at Furman University, where he also served as academic dean. His topic on Jan. 16 at 9:30 a.m. will be “The Dead Sea Scrolls and Their Significance.”
