RA challenge boosts offering

In September, the Royal Ambassadors of White Rock Baptist Church, Lexington Association, began sponsoring Wednesday night suppers and discussing ways to use the proceeds for missions. They contacted an “adopted” IMB missionary family, who encouraged them to give the money to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.

The Lottie Moon goal at White Rock, which has 63 active members, was set at $500. The RAs then challenged church members by offering to match up to $800 in honor of the missionary family. On the ingathering Sunday, $1,335 was received. The total to date, with the $800 from the RAs, is $2,265.

To receive the Lottie Moon offering, three Crusaders stood at the front of the church with gift bags as the congregation came forward with their offerings.

“What touched my heart was seeing one of the Crusaders take his gift bag and put it on the offering table, then pull out his own billfold and start dropping in his own coins and bills,” said Betty Haimbaugh, WMU director. “These young men are on the road to believing in missions, due to adults who love missions and are willing to take time to teach them.”

The RA leader is Ray Gaillard, assisted by J.P. Watson and Phil Robinson. Glenn Day is pastor at White Rock.
