Retirement home a haven in the storm

The Baptist Courier

During the ice storm Dec. 15-20, my wife and I experienced the inconvenience that many did in the Piedmont area. We were without electricity for five days. After a couple of days, we began to search for more comfortable surroundings. There were no motels or other accommodations readily available, but my daughter called the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center in Laurens and they had a furnished apartment that they very graciously allowed us to use.

It was great to have electricity, heat, and hot water for the next few days. My wife and I are deeply grateful for their warm hospitality. I pray we will continue to support these great institutions that open their hearts for the care of the elderly.
