
Langston Baptist Church, Conway, held its first annual women’s conference, “Untie the Ribbons,” Nov. 11-12. More than 210 women from 21 churches in North and South Carolina attended the event, where author Sharon Hoffman, left, founder of Gifted Living ministries, was keynote speaker. Moriah Baptist Association’s disaster relief rebuild/chain-saw unit traveled to Pascagoulah, Miss., in late November for a five-day mission trip. The 13-member team, which represented nine churches in the Lancaster area, worked on nine homes, tearing out sheetrock, ceilings, kitchen cabinets, wood floors, bathtubs, sinks and floor tiles.

St. Helena Baptist Church, Savannah River Association, celebrated its 40th homecoming Dec. 11. The theme was “One Church Under God, Gathering to Share and Remember.” A groundbreaking ceremony for a new multi-purpose building was also held. Marshall Blalock, the church’s sixth pastor, from 1984-1990, led the service.
