Jim Gill, director of the South Carolina Baptist Convention music and creative worship group, will be retiring July 1.

During his tenure, Gill has fostered the development of the Baptist All-State Orchestra and Chorus, Honor Children’s Chorus, YouthSingers, Mini Music Camp, and SeraphSong – a group of women music leaders and accompanists who regularly perform at convention events and churches.

A Louisiana native, Gill has served as a guest choral director and adjudicator, camp choir director, and workshop leader around the Southeast.

Gill started with the convention in 1977 and has served as group director since 1990.

In retirement, Gill plans to spend time with his children and grandchildren and pursuing other avenues of music ministry.
