Hugh Augustus McAlister, 78, a retired pastor and Korean War veteran, died March 7 in Anderson.
Born in Anderson on Sept. 5, 1927, he was a minister for more than 40 years and served various churches as interim pastor and teacher. He retired as pastor of Central Baptist Church in Anderson.
He was a United States Army Korean War veteran and was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, three Bronze Stars and the United Nations Service Medal. He was a member of Asbury Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Lawrence McAlister; a daughter; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace Wilbanks McAlister.
