‘Coffeehouse fall-out’ continues

The Baptist Courier

Thank you for including in The Baptist Courier the articles from the Baptist Press concerning the coffeehouse of the ’70s that Terry and Greer Ballenger started in Easley. The cause and effect of what took place as a direct result of their personal input into the lives of the youth of Easley at that time is certainly newsworthy. I was both an observer and a beneficiary of their efforts.

The Ballengers were a faithful young couple in our church family at Easley First who were a joy to know. They were influential in the lives of some of us “older friends,” too. Our oldest son Rocky was in high school and was a part of the coffeehouse group. This positive influence and encouragement to explore the depths of the scripture helped to affirm what he already had been taught. Today he is an ordained deacon in his church in Summerville, a devoted Christian husband and father of teenagers. The “fall-out” from the coffeehouse ministry in Easley continues.
