Earl L. Wilson, 80, of Greer, a retired pastor and former trustee of The Baptist Courier, died June 3.
Born Nov. 23, 1925, in Atlanta, Ga., he received his education from Georgia State University, Furman University and Southern Baptist Seminary.
He was ordained by Central Baptist Church, Greenville. During his ministry, Wilson served the following South Carolina Baptist churches: Plum Branch; Jackson First; Whitmire First; and Park, Rock Hill.
He also served churches in Florida and was an associational director of missions in Florida before he retired to Hartwell, Ga.
He was a writer for the Sunday School Board for 20 years and served on the executive committee of the Florida Baptist Convention.
He was a diver in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was recalled to active service during the Korean Conflict. He also played in the U.S. Navy Band. Wilson was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Greer.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Campbell Wilson, two sons, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
