The Southern Association of Colleges and Universities (SACS) recently approved North Greenville University’s master of business administration program. The approval allows NGU to begin offering an MBA degree beginning July 21 at its T. Walter Brashier Graduate School in Greer.

This is the second graduate program to be accredited. The first was a master of Christian ministry degree, which started in February.

Classes will be held in 10-week terms. For five out of the 10 weeks, students will attend class on Friday nights and Saturdays. The program allows students to obtain an MBA in 16 months.

“Students can attend class without the worry of missing work or any obligations they might have. The convenience of the schedule allows students to earn a master’s degree and still maintain a full-time job,” said Sam Isgett, vice president and dean for graduate studies. “The weeks that the students are not here allow them to study or spend time with family.”

Students in the program will enjoy small class sizes and personal attention. “The faculty and staff know every student by name. We have an enrollment of 30 students in the Christian ministry program and have 25 students scheduled for the MBA program. Our goal is to have at least 100 students enrolled before fall,” added Isgett.

With recent high-profile examples of business leaders acting unethically, the need for a values-based business education has never been greater. “Each graduate course is Christ-centered. We have faculty who infuse Christian values in learning. The faculty has been part of the business world and realizes the need for Christian values,” said Isgett. “Courses like these are needed in today’s world. Every time someone turns on the news, there is some business treating people wrong.”

According to Isgett, NGU hopes to offer additional graduate programs in the future.
