Mission Friends at Hillcrest Baptist Church, Easley, collected $124.83 for the Annie Armstrong Easter Offering. Each child worked faithfully, collecting the offering in frosting containers. Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Jefferson, commissioned 28 youth and adults on June 10 to partner with a new church in West Virginia. This trip followed a week of Vacation Bible School, directed by Barbara Kay Newman. Terry Corder is the pastor at Mt. Pisgah.

 

Marion Baptist Association’s annual WMU meeting was hosted by the newly established Piney Grove Baptist Church in Britton’s Neck. Thirteen members from Nebo Baptist Church, Gresham, attended. Jean Pace, fourth from left, is director of Nebo’s WMU.

 

Westside Baptist Church, Cheraw, burned the mortgage on its family life center during the Fourth of July weekend. The 15-year-note was paid off in seven years. Former pastor Bill Traywick, right, is shown lighting the note while deacon chairman Harold Hunter holds it. Also pictured are deacon Earl Lee and current pastor Doug Reava, who are holding the tray.

 

Mt. Leon Baptist Church, Longs, held a dedication service April 23 for its new fellowship hall. Construction of the 4,800-square-foot facility was funded by donations from individuals and businesses, and volunteer labor was provided by a Carpenters for Christ group from Alabama.

 

First Baptist Church, Hartsville, and First Baptist Church, Laurens, partnered on a mission trip to Trinidad July 10-17. The 32-member group consisted of a medical team (doctor, dentist, optometrist, pharmacist, nurses and support staff), a construction team, and a Vacation Bible School team. Also represented on the team were members of West Hartsville Baptist Church.
