This is in response to a letter published in The Baptist Courier July 13, from Hillcrest Baptist Church, Dalzell, asking for assistance in completing a building that is needed to provide more space for Sunday school, etc.
Upon reading their plea for help, God spoke to my heart and encouraged me to ask the church that I pastor for a love offering to be given to Hillcrest.
According to a letter I received recently from Hillcrest, only $555 has been given to date to help with this project. Since our church gave $455 of this, that means only $100 has been given by others.
Imagine a church with only 10 members, most of whom are senior citizens and unable to do the construction work. The unfinished building that was started 15 years ago must become a reality in order to accommodate new families that will soon be moving into their area. Can South Carolina Baptists not hear this plea for help and respond?
I would like to challenge South Carolina Baptists to step up to the plate in love and concern and lend a helping hand. Our mission field begins here at home.
