An Encouraging Word – by Don Wilton

The Baptist Courier

I have just returned from preaching the word of God alongside Dr. Charles Stanley in Alaska, where I had the privilege of meeting fellow Christians from all over the world. It reminded me of the fact that we are one incredible family, all bound together by Jesus Christ, who came to this earth and died to set us free.

The bottom line is, you are not alone. You may feel isolated at times and your circumstances may present so many difficulties and heartaches to you, but you are not alone. We may come from different backgrounds and we may find ourselves on the edge at times, but our Savior is the same yesterday, today and forever. He never changes, and He loves each one of us very much indeed.

This past week was a blessing beyond measure. I had the joy and privilege of preaching at the South Carolina Bible Study and Preacher’s Retreat, held on the Anderson University campus.

What an incredible time of fellowship, joy, inspiration and encouragement it was. Our own Marshall Fagg and his team from the South Carolina Baptist Convention office did nothing short of an outstanding job of organization that resulted in a tremendous sense of the Lord’s presence.

Every session was an unbelievable time of praise and worship as we sang to the glory of the Lord, and then feasted on His word from the Epistles of John. I told Marshall, tongue in cheek, that I believe this conference must rank as one of the “best kept secrets” of our state. Mark your calendars for next year! Don’t miss this one if at all possible!

Then, to add to it all, we found ourselves on one of our university campuses where the Lord Jesus is being lifted up and hundreds of students are being educated in a Christian atmosphere.

Evans Whitaker and his staff are simply terrific! What a blessing to have institutions of higher learning like Anderson, North Greenville and Charleston Southern that are holding to the highest level of spiritual excellence while providing the very best in fully accredited education. Your prayers, financial giving and encouragement are producing results of the highest order.
