During the first executive committee meeting held in the new mission center of Lexington Baptist Association, the committee voted to channel a large portion of disaster relief donations received from LBA churches and individuals to help rebuild the Gulf Coast of Mississippi through World Changers 2007.

The $20,000 in donated funds will be used to purchase construction materials needed to rebuild houses damaged by Hurricane Katrina.

Lexington Baptists have given generously during the past two hurricane seasons. Funds received through the association were also used to send volunteers, as well as to purchase supplies to provide relief to victims.

“This large amount of money will make a significant difference in the lives of many of the victims of Hurricane Katrina,” said David Lee of Lexington Baptist Association, who added that the association will continue to send volunteers.
