Under the theme “Icon the Magazine: It’s All About Image,” Summersalt, the youth camp held annually at White Oak Conference Center, challenged students to be the image of Christ.
Nearly 1,600 students attended the camp, which is held over four weeks in June.
Frank Marsh of Crosswell Baptist Church, Sumter, brought a group of six middle-school girls who really gravitated to the theme.
The camp drama centered on college interns for a teen magazine who are chosen to be the next “Icon” and the importance society places on image.
“They seemed to be really conscious of image issues. – I really feel this was probably one of the most important themes that could have been done,” Marsh said. He noted the camp complemented his group’s World Changers work earlier in the summer.
“I think that being in an environment at World Changers where you didn’t have to take the time to worry about your physical image, the spiritual image has to come to the top,” he said.
