The Silver Ring Thing comes to CSU

The Baptist Courier

There are teens today who are saying “no” to sex before marriage.

On Sept. 23, the Silver Ring Thing, an abstinence program incorporating hi-tech music, lights and sound, will be held at Charleston Southern University.

Their message is geared toward middle and high school-age students and is presented in a way that appeals to the 21st century teenager.

During the program, students make a commitment to stay sexually pure until marriage and putting on a silver ring as a sign of that promise.

Nathan, 17, from Destin, Fla., said of the Silver Ring Thing, “Thank you so much for the way you impacted my life the night of the Silver Ring Thing in Destin. I had never known the truth about sex.”

For more information about this event, visit www.SilverRingThing.SC or contact Skip Owens, director of denominational relations at Charleston Southern, at (843) 863-7014 or e-mail sowens@csuniv.edu.

The event is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. – with registration beginning at 5:15 – at Lightsey Chapel Auditorium on the Charleston Southern campus. Admission is $5 for youth and adults and $15 for the ring.
