Wade Godfrey Jr., 83, of Ninety Six, a pastor who served several Baptist churches in South Carolina during his ministry, died Sept. 3.
Born in Rockingham, N.C., Godfrey grew up in the Ware Shoals area. He was a graduate of Furman University and Southwestern Baptist Seminary.
His ministry included the following churches: McClellanville Baptist Church, Marion Baptist Church, Ruffin Baptist Church, Antioch Baptist Church in Hartsville, Eastside Baptist Church in McColl, Parksville Baptist Church, and Harris Creek Baptist Church in Society Hill.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Allen Godfrey, three daughters, 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter.
