The stage is set for greater missions involvement and personal growth as hundreds gather for WMU’s national missions event this fall at LifeWay Ridgecrest Conference Center near Asheville, N.C.

The Experience the Joy of Missions WMU Conference, Sept. 27 – Oct. 1, will offer exciting worship, music, conferences and workshops.

“This event is designed to provide a time of enrichment and renewal in one’s walk with the Lord, and for participants to be inspired, encouraged and equipped with relevant and practical ways to involve their entire church in his mission,” said Wanda Lee, national WMU executive director-treasurer.

Participants will experience inspirational worship during five general sessions. Featured speakers include Lee, author of WMU’s new emphasis book, “Live the Call,” and top New Hope authors Jennifer Kennedy Dean, author of “Fueled by Faith,” and Jimmy Dorrell, pastor and author of the recently released “Trolls & Truth: 14 Realities About Today’s Church That We Don’t Want to See.” Music lovers will also enjoy a Friday night concert by the Annie Moses Band.

Joyce Mitchell, national WMU’s leadership development co-team leader and coordinator of this year’s event, said conference and workshop topics will range from very practical to innovative.

“We are offering a total of 80 different workshops this year that cover a wide variety of topics,” Mitchell explained. “All missions leaders, whether experienced or just getting started, will benefit from workshops geared around starting or growing an organization – like a Mission Friends or Women on Mission organization – but many of the workshops offer opportunities for leadership development or personal spiritual growth. We will also focus on our 2006-08 emphasis of Live the Call, and offer practical helps for local church leaders.”

Cost for the five-day conference is $149. Three-day attendance is $99 for Sept. 27-29 or Sept. 29-Oct. 1. To register, call 1-800-588-7222 or visit www.wmu.com/ridgecrest2006.
