Focus on God’s model

The Baptist Courier

Thank you so much for your article concerning the divisiveness that the Purpose-Driven model has caused in churches all over this country. It’s really sad that our own convention couldn’t see it and the Wall Street Journal had to bring it to our attention.

Let’s get focused, Christians, on God’s model for the church, not man’s. Lifting up Jesus Christ is what will draw men to him, not watering down the word and trying to bring the world into worship when worship is for the believer, not the world.

We are called to reveal who Jesus Christ is through our lives. We are his temple, and our intimate relationship with him should be overflowing in our personal worship and then into our corporate worship. We are called to be salt and light.

Let the church be the church. Preach the word. Repentance unto a Holy God, reverence for a Holy God, and respect for a Holy God and his word are the missing ingredients in our “transformational” churches today. Be careful!
