Jerry A. Jones, 67, of Sumter, a minister of music who served churches in the Upstate and the Midlands, died Oct. 17.
Born in Greer, Jones served as minister of music at Holly Springs Baptist Church, Inman, and Ebenezer Baptist Church, Florence. He was the associate minister and minister of music at First Baptist Church, Sumter, for 20 years and the Protestant music coordinator at the Shaw Air Force Base chapels for 17 years.
He was also a State newspaper carrier for 18 years. He served as a Ranger in the U.S. Army.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Bruce Jones, and a son.
