Everette D. Crook

Everette D. Crook, 75, of Spartanburg, a South Carolina Baptist pastor who served churches for more than 50 years, died Oct. 5.

Crook was born Oct. 18, 1930, in St. George. Following his graduation from St. George High School, he graduated from North Greenville University as salutatorian, Furman University (magna cum laude) and New Orleans Seminary, where he earned a master’s degree in theology.?

He was pastor of Smoaks Baptist Church, Colleton Association; Cedar Grove Baptist Church, Belton; Green Street Baptist Church, Spartanburg; and Crestview Baptist Church, Woodruff.

Crook also served as resident counselor at the Bonner Home for Recovering Alcoholics and Drug Addicts and served for 17 years as director of family services and lead clinical counselor at the Spartanburg Boys Home.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Sarah Crook, two children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
