Joseph Arthur “Joe” Trotter, 89, of Piedmont, who served several churches as pastor during his ministry, died Oct. 22 at the Hospice House of Anderson.

Born in Pelzer in 1916, he graduated from Pelzer High School and North Greenville University.

Trotter was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church, Williamston, where he retired as pastor. He had served numerous churches over the years, including Bethany Baptist Church, Belton; Corinth 1 Baptist Church, Easley; Red Hill Baptist Church, Pickens; and Ruhamah Baptist Church, Liberty.

He was the organizing pastor for Brushy Creek Baptist Church, Easley, and served as pastor there for the first few years. He also served as interim pastor of Eastview Baptist Church, Pelzer.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Lou Mae Sherman Trotter, a daughter, two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
