Composer and music clinician Tom Eggleston has a message to “XCLAIM.”
Eggleston, formerly associate director of worship and music for the South Carolina Baptist Convention, has launched a new service to help foster stronger and more effective church choirs.

XCLAIM is an acrostic for the slogan, “(E)Xcellent Choirs Lead And Inspire Music Ministries.” Targeted groups include small and medium-sized choirs or churches with senior adult or student choirs.
Working with singers in a three-hour workshop (often in large groups that include neighboring church choirs), Eggleston exposes choir members to new approaches and ideas in choral music. The workshop, which can be held on a Saturday morning or Sunday afternoon, may conclude with a worship concert.
Eggleston, a published composer of more than 100 church anthems, has served as a minister of music and as a missionary with the North American Mission Board. He is a pianist and also plays an unusual globular flute called an ocarina. Eggleston continues to serve the South Carolina Baptist Convention as a music consultant for student choir events. He also serves churches and groups through his concert ministry.
