I would like to thank Frank Page, president of the Southern Baptist Convention, for his column “Gifts and fruit” (Dec. 28, 2006, Baptist Courier), which I believe is the truth. But I believe the only way to bear the fruit of the Spirit is to die to self and live to Christ.
We don’t have many “dead” Southern Baptists in our churches today, and that’s the reason for the problems. “Dead” people have no rights; therefore, there is no law for them (Gal. 3:23).
I agree with the late Adrian Rogers’ quote, “I would rather be united in love than divided in deception.”
There is a time to separate ourselves from some people because Jesus said that he came to divide, not to bring peace (unity) to the world (Luke 12:51-53).
I challenge all Christians in all the churches to seek out your own salvation by studying God’s word and walking and talking with him every day. You will become more like him as you look to him who is able to do all things (2 Cor. 3:18 and 1 Cor. 10:13).
