The North American Mission Board Jan. 18 activated South Carolina disaster relief teams to Waynesville, Mo., to assist victims of ice storms that blanketed the Midwest.
Assessment, shower, feeding and chainsaw teams have started departing for the region. Teams were expected to assist people displaced from their homes due to widespread power outages from the storms.
The North American Mission Board also activated teams from other states to areas in Oklahoma and additional parts of Missouri.
Winter storms swept through the Midwest and Southwest in early January, leaving thousands of homes without power. More inclement weather is again expected this week in the same part of the country.
