First Baptist Church, Landrum, has succeeded its goal for the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering for International Missions by more than $20,000.
The church, which has been averaging 215 in Sunday school attendance for the past six months, set an offering goal of $40,000. As of Jan. 24, the amount received totaled $60,713, setting a record for the Landrum congregation, according to interim pastor Wallace Hughes.
Hughes, former director of missions for Abbeville Baptist Association – now Lakelands Baptist Association – also reported that the church fed more than 800 people on Thanksgiving, prepared 100 boxes for Samaritan’s Purse, exceeded a goal of $3,500 for state missions by nearly $500, distributed 50 boxes of canned goods to families at Christmas, and gave more than $1,500 for the World Hunger offering.
Additionally, Landrum First gives 20 percent of its undesignated receipts through the Cooperative Program, he noted.
In March, church member Langlee Garrett will lead a missions team to Senegal, he added.
