Art of living examined in Bishop’s book, ‘Acres of Diamonds’

The newest work by author Gene Bishop of Greer, who has written affectionately of his years growing up in Connie Maxwell Children’s Home in Greenwood, is entirely new.

His recent release, “Acres of Diamonds: How to Find Yours,” is a revised and updated version of an earlier work, “The Anatomy of a Winning Lifestyle,” which was printed in 1993 and reprinted in 1995.

Bishop, who heads up People and Solutions Inc., says, “Acres of Diamonds” is “not a book about how to earn money, but more importantly is a book about the art of having a full and successful life.”

The book deals with the “concepts of people skills and managing your own life,” principles of life management that “never change or go out of style,” according to Bishop, who also said he wanted to remind readers that “adversity in your life can always be a stepping stone and not a stumbling block.”

Bishop is author of four previous books, including “If Being Raised in an Orphanage Was So Bad, Why Did I Like It So Good?” which recounted his and others’ experiences at Connie Maxwell.

A portion of the proceeds from the new book will go to Connie Maxwell. Bishop’s books may be ordered from People and Solutions Inc., 108 Tanager Circle, Greer, 29650, by calling 1-800-447-3698, or by writing to the e-mail address: pstrainu@aol.com.
