Daniel Jay Poore, 33, a teacher and principal at a private school in South Korea, died Jan. 19, 2007.
He was the son of Bill Poore, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Lancaster.
Jay Poore lived in Seoul, South Korea, where he taught science and English and was principal at a private school for the past eight years.
He was born in Anderson, and he was salutatorian of the 1992 graduating class at Central Cabarrus High School in Concord, N.C. In 1996, he earned a bachelor of arts degree from the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.
He was described by his family as a “world traveler, son, brother, husband and loving father.”
He is survived by his wife, Soun-Mi, and 6-month-old daughter, Haley. Other survivors include his parents, Bill and Patsy Poore, of Lancaster, and his brother, Steve, who lives with his family in Tampa, Fla.
A memorial service was held Feb. 4 at Calvary Baptist Church, Lancaster. James R. Gray, pastor of Utica Baptist Church, Seneca, and Boyce Wilson, pastor of Ebenezer ARP Church, Rock Hill, offered eulogies.
