In a called meeting today (March 27) the Executive Board of the South Carolina Baptist Convention unanimously endorsed the nomination of Jim Austin of Missouri as the next executive director-treasurer of the state convention.

SCBC messengers will vote on Austin’s nomination at a special session of the state convention on April 26 at 1 p.m. at Riverland Hills Baptist Church, Columbia. Registration begins at 11 a.m.

Austin was introduced to Executive Board members by Tim Williams, chairman of the search committee charged with seeking a successor to Carlisle Driggers, who officially retired at the end of February. Also introduced were Austin’s wife Debbie and three of the couple’s five children.
