Eddie Arthur Fogle Jr., 78, of Cordova, retired pastor and denominational servant, died March 11, 2007.
Fogle was born in Orangeburg County. He was a graduate of Furman University and Southern Seminary, and completed further studies at Union Seminary, Columbia University, N.Y.
He served as pastor of Colston Branch Baptist Church, Bamberg County, and College Park Baptist Church, Rock Hill. He also served as pastor of Memorial Baptist Church, St. George, for 25 years. Upon retirement there, he was awarded The Order of The Palmetto. He then went on to serve as interim and supply pastor in the Orangeburg area.
Fogle also served the South Carolina Baptist Convention in the following capacities; General Board, vice president of the South Carolina Baptist Pastors Conference, Shaping of the 80s Convention, Nominating Committee, Committee on Committees, and the Cooperative Program Task Force. He also served on the search committee that secured Carlisle Driggers as executive director-treasurer of the convention.
He served on the board of trustees for Baptist hospitals for nine years and was moderator of York and Screven associations.
Survivors include his wife, Jananne “Nan” Tyler Fogle, two children and five grandchildren.
