Perhaps you remember several months ago when I shared with you that someone had written asking for recipes for lemon, strawberry, and peanut butter pies? Several readers sent recipes, and I used some of them. Yesterday I found two recipes for Peanut Butter Pie. They are identical, so I shall tell you something about both contributors.
The first is Marjorie Wilson, a member of Welcome Baptist Church in Saluda Baptist Association. William West Jr. is her pastor. Over the years, she has been active in many areas of the church: choir, president of WMU, ordinances committee, etc. Her husband Ben has been a deacon, member of the finance, cemetery, usher, and pulpit committees, and a trustee.
Marjorie was born in Scottsville, Ky., where her father owned a grocery on Wilson Square.
Later, her family moved to Indianapolis, where she was working when a friend who was dating a soldier from Camp Atterbury introduced Marjorie to a young South Carolina soldier named Ben Wilson. Click! Ben was discharged in October, made some visits back to Indianapolis, then in April 1953 went back for a wedding and to bring Marjorie to South Carolina.

Marjorie Wilson
Marjorie worked for Milliken Research Corporation at the DeFore Plant as secretary to the vice president and general manager, then as planning coordinator – for a total of 49 years. During this time, she enrolled at Limestone College and graduated summa cum laude.
Ben has retired from his grading/contracting business. Marjorie enjoys her pets – both cats and dogs – and some time ago she participated in a cooking class and reading group.
The second Peanut Butter Pie recipe is from Deanna Myers, a teacher at the Christian Learning Center in Williamston. This is something new with schools. This year, Deanna has about 350 students from Palmetto Middle School. They are in six classes which are off-campus, next door at Palmetto Baptist Association. The center provides the teacher, the classroom, transportation, etc., funded by donations; no state money is used. The curriculum includes Bible study and prayer, and serves as a support for any students with personal problems.
Deanna, a native of Greenville, and her husband George are members of Woodside Baptist Church in Greenville, where Ronnie Williams is pastor. She serves as VBS director, teaches a ladies Sunday school class, directs and sings in the young people’s choir, and is church soloist. George serves on a couple of committees, and, like Deanna, is regular in attendance.
They have three children; Courtney, a student at USC; Wesley, 16; and Rebecca, 12.
This pie is rich but good, so serve small pieces. It’s best made the day before. Be sure to chill it, and you will get a firmer product, Deanna says, if it goes in the freezer overnight. Garnish it with a dollop of the whipped topping, Marjorie suggests, and it will be a perfect dessert for … Sunday Dinner.
