
A group of volunteers from Pine Grove Baptist Church, Lake Wiley, assisted in the construction of Cross Roads Community Church, a new Southern Baptist congregation in Lady Lake, Fla. Jesse and Nancy Fairfax of Woodstock, Ga., have helped coordinate more than 130 Baptist volunteers from across the nation for the project. The church start hopes to reach the Lady Lake community, which has a population of 30,000 and is merging with a retirement village that is expected to exceed 100,000 by 2010. Crossroads Church is led by J.C. Mitchell, a retired pastor and former Florida Baptist Convention president. Team members included pastor Jerry Bryant, worship leader Todd Ward, Don and Connie Starr, Jeanette Dennis, J.T. and Joerine Milen, and Gene Daves.
